Well I have now finished this enchanting novel, the book hasn't left my side for the past two weeks, I have it by my bedside, in the car and even on my work desk.
First of all I will tell you a little about the author, Cecelia Ahern. I originally heard about Cecelia through watching the film 'P.S I love you' based on the first novel she wrote at the age of only 21! She was born and grew up in Dublin, Ireland (you will notice Ireland plays a big part in her writing) and was always surrounded by the world of entertainment. She was part of an Irish pop ground who came third in the Irish national final for the Euro Vision song contest, her sister is married to Nicky from the Irish boy band Westlife, and her father was none other than the Taoiseach of Ireland until 2008 (equivalent to the role of a prime minister). I think this involvement in the modern world reflects in her stories.
'If you Could see me Now' was Cecelia Ahern's third novel, the book is written from two points of view, one from the Main character an organized, neat freak with a sad past, Elizabeth, the second from an unexpected character that appears in Elizabeth's world to show her how to live life to the full, Ivan.
Based in a small town in Ireland it is a heart warming love story with a little something special. The book will make you want to love, be loved, and appreciate the love of life.
Elizabeth is too busy for a social life, looking after her 6 year old nephew whilst his mother is no where to be seen, running her own interior design business, and having a father who is caught up in the past. With all the stress crashing in and out of her life she needed to experience some magic, along came Ivan. He was a lovable character with a child like instinct, always knowing what to say and what to do. He takes Elizabeth on a life changing adventure, helping her to reflect on her childhood and the person she has become today.
I smiled my way through this book, watching the relationship develop between Elizabeth and Ivan opened up my heart. The friendship and lost love between the two was heartbreaking as well as heart warming, it is a definite read for any one who loves a romantic, warm, enchanted novel to make you smile through out your day.
